Dr. Yokananth Sekar earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Science from Madras Veterinary College, India, in 2001. He pursued a Masters in Veterinary Parasitology at Indian Veterinary Research Institute and started practicing mixed animal practice. Dr. Sekar completed his PhD research on the role of mast cells in allergy and immunology at Pulmonary Research Group, Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, Canada. Along with his postdoctoral research studies, he cleared the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and successfully completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates certification program. He also practiced small animal medicine in Canada.

Dr. Sekar moved to Frisco, Texas, in 2015 and worked in multiple busy small animal practices before joining Club Hill Animal Clinic. Dr. Sekar is passionate about helping pets and pet owners according to their specific needs and is well known for his diagnostic, analytical, and surgical skills. He is also passionate about creating awareness about the importance of dental hygiene among pet owners and underwent specialized training in Canine and Feline Dentistry. Dr. Sekar acquired soft-tissue surgical skills by attending focused surgical training from board-certified veterinary surgeons at specialty centers. He underwent ultrasound training and utilizes this powerful diagnostic tool on his patients to rule out emerging pathologies at an earlier level in his clinical practice. Dr. Sekar is keen in expanding his knowledge on internal and critical care medicine by attending continuing education trainings at multiple locations, including Texas A&M University Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Sekar lives with his wife, Kirthiga: sons, Rishit, Rohit; and daughter, Netra, along with their pet, “Remo”. Dr. Sekar enjoys hiking and attends leadership training in his spare time.
